Chez Vero, my favorite Italian-Georgian-French cuisine

just a few doors down at 33 Rue Ramponeau,

lovely hilly Belleville Quarter, in Paris!

my favorite hole-in-the-wall mafia-front (in appearance only, this is not even alleged) yet incredibly busy restaurant Chez Vero!

This quartier is the center of the Courtille, famous in the eighteenth century for its cabarets and nightlife... and inexpensive bad wine... This is due in part to being located outside of the main fiscal center of Paris, and therefore being exempt from taxes. This is also originally the quarter of workshops and migrant workers, still being "in the country" in the 1700's.

and a few more doors down at 42 Rue Ramponeau,

my favorite perpetually-closed librairie papeterie (book store, stationary shop)

and finally at 48 Rue Ramponeau, further up the hill and under Belleville Park, behind a wooden door... a courtyard with a community of artisans, artists...
